Wind Down with a 15-Minute Embodied Yoga Practice

Unwind after a long day with a gentle yoga flow designed to ground you and connect you to your breath and body. This 15-minute practice requires no props except for a yoga mat and a blanket, offering flexibility to tailor each pose to your unique needs. Allow yourself to flow through these positions at your own pace, embracing the sensations and the breath with each movement.

Position 1: Tadasana (Mountain Pose)
Stand tall at the top of your mat with your feet firmly grounded. Close your eyes and take a moment to feel the connection from your feet up through your legs, torso, and head. Shift your focus to your breath, welcoming 10 deep, mindful breaths at your own rhythm. This is your time to release the stress of the day and prepare for the relaxing practice ahead.

Position 2: Wide-Legged Child’s Pose (Balasana)
Transition into a wide-legged Child’s Pose, being curious about how you position your hands. Experiment with extending your arms long in front of you, bending your elbows with your hands behind your head, or stretching your hands back towards your feet. Stay playful and explore what feels best for you, holding this pose for approximately 3 minutes. Allow your body to soften and relax into the ground.

Position 3: Reclined Twist (3 minutes per side)
Lie on your back and bring your knees into a deep bend, then gently lower them to one side for a reclined twist. Play with the position of your hands and the depth of the bend in your knees, perhaps widening the bend so you can see the tips of your toes beyond your knee caps. Stay in this twist for about 3 minutes on each side, feeling the gentle release through your spine and torso.

Position 4: Savasana (Corpse Pose)
Finish your practice with Savasana, lying flat on your back. Adjust the position of your feet to be wide or narrow, and place your hands and arms wherever feels most comfortable and relaxing. Close your eyes and remain here for at least 10 breaths, allowing yourself to sink deeply into a state of relaxation. If it feels good, stay in Savasana for a bit longer, savoring the stillness and calm.

This 15-minute embodied yoga practice is a perfect way to end your day, grounding yourself and fostering a connection with your breath and body. Embrace the freedom to explore and adapt each pose, making this flow uniquely yours and helping you to wind down before bedtime or after a busy day at work.
